- Frontex intends to purchase borescopes and spectrometers. Borescopes are intended to be used for border checks at authorised border crossing points mainly when the officers check vehicles, trucks, containers for detection of clandestine persons and illicit goods. The purpose of the product is to control (view/inspect) containers, fuel tanks, compartments, in order to detect hidden objects/persons in hard-to-access spaces. Spectrometers are intended to be used mainly when the officers are checking various substances found on those passing through border crossing points. These devices use spectral detection method, based on the phenomenon of scattering of monochromatic light (Raman).
